Deposits & returnable containers
Bottle deposit (Pfand)
The German 0.25 EUR Einwegpfand and other EU deposit-return schemes.
When tag deposit + country DE, add 0.25 EUR per bottle.
California CRV
The California Redemption Value on beverage containers, taxable, by tag.
When tag crv5 + state CA, add 0.05 USD per container.
US bottle deposits
Bottle bills in Michigan, Oregon, New York, and seven more states.
When tag deposit + state in the bottle-bill list, add the state deposit.
Core charge
Refundable deposits on remanufactured parts, returned when the core comes back.
When tag core-charge, add the core deposit per part.
Keg & container deposits
Deposits on kegs, crates, and reusable packaging that comes back to you.
When product type Keg, add a refundable deposit per keg.
Deposit by container size
One fee, a different deposit per bottle size, from a volume metafield.
When the volume is 750 ml or more, add 0.10 per bottle, otherwise 0.05.
Environmental & recycling fees
Mattress recycling fee
State-mandated per-unit fees on mattresses and foundations.
When type Mattress + state CA, add 18.00 USD per unit.
Tire fee
California's per-tire fee, itemized on the invoice as required.
When type Tires + state CA, add 1.75 USD per tire.
eWaste recycling fee
The Covered Electronic Waste fee on screens, tiered by size.
When metafield screen class matches + state CA, add the CDTFA tier.
Battery recycling fee
Stewardship fees on batteries and battery-embedded products.
When metafield battery_embedded is true, add the stewardship fee.
PaintCare fee
Paint stewardship fees by container size, in PaintCare states.
When type Paint + a PaintCare state, add the container fee.
Eco-participation
France's visible eco fee on electronics and furniture, shown separately by law.
When type Small appliance + country FR, add the eco fee per item.
Checkout bag fee
Mandated carryout bag charges, driven by a theme checkbox.
When cart attribute bag:paper + a bag-fee state, add the bag charge.
Packaging fee per gram
A rate per gram of packaging, from a metafield; separate rates per material.
When a product has 45 g of packaging, add 0.002 per gram.
US retail delivery fees
Colorado Retail Delivery Fee
0.31 USD per delivery, non-taxable, itemized as "Retail Delivery Fees".
When state CO and the cart is not only gift cards, add 0.31 USD once.
Minnesota Road Improvement Fee
0.50 USD on qualifying deliveries of 100 USD or more, with the mandated label.
When state MN + subtotal ≥ 100, add 0.50 USD once.
Excise-style product fees
Nicotine & vape excise-style fees
A percentage of wholesale, a fixed amount per can, a rate per pouch or per ounce, per product group.
When the product is in your pouches collection, add 0.05 per pouch from a metafield.
Tariffs & import
Tariff surcharge
Pass on import tariffs transparently, by country of origin or HS code.
When origin CN, add 10% of those items (or of their cost).
International order fee
Customs paperwork and handling on orders shipped abroad.
When country is not one of your home markets, add a handling fee.
Customs brokerage fee
A flat amount plus a percentage of the order value, in one line.
When the country is not your home market, add 5 + 2% of the subtotal.
Handling & logistics
Heavy item surcharge
Per-kilogram or per-pound fees on heavy orders, with tiers by formula.
When cart weight ≥ 20 kg, add a per-kg surcharge.
Heat pack & cold shipping
Winter protection for live plants, reptiles, and perishables.
When tag live-goods + October to April, add a heat pack fee.
Fragile handling fee
Extra packaging for glass and breakables, by variant metafield.
When material is glass, add a fragile handling fee per item.
Small order surcharge
The Mindermengenzuschlag: cover fixed costs on tiny orders, legally itemized.
When subtotal ≤ 50 EUR, add a 5 EUR surcharge.
Bulk order packing fee
Packing materials for very large orders, by quantity thresholds.
When 20+ items in the cart, add a packing fee.
Dropship vendor fee
Handling surcharges on items shipped from partner warehouses.
When vendor is your dropship partner, add a handling fee.
Fuel surcharge
A capped percentage that tracks delivery costs.
When any order ships, add 3%, at most 15.00.
Tiered handling fee
A handling fee that steps down as the order grows.
When the subtotal is below 100, add 9.90; from 100, 5.00; from 200, nothing.
Per-unit fee with quantity breaks
Labelling or kitting per unit, cheaper in volume.
When 10 or more units, add 0.50 each, otherwise 0.65.
Bulk goods handling by weight
Soil, mulch and fertilizer pay by weight, other items do not.
When the category is Sands & Soils, add 0.15 per kg.
Hazmat handling fee
Perfume, hair spray and aerosols add a handling fee once per order.
When the category is Perfumes & Colognes or the tag is aerosol, add 4.95.
Store policy & services
Gift wrap fee
Charge wrapping per item or per order, driven by the customer's choice.
When the line has Gift wrap: yes, add the wrapping fee.
Engraving fee
Charge only the items that are actually personalized.
When the line has an Engraving property, add the engraving fee.
Order protection fee
Optional shipping protection via a cart checkbox.
When attribute protection:yes, add 2% of the subtotal.
White-glove fee
Premium handling for expensive items, by unit price.
When an item costs 500+, add white-glove handling.
Rush & weekend fees
Cutoff times, weekend dispatch, and peak season surcharges.
When Saturday or after 14:00, add the rush fee.
Waive fees for VIP & wholesale
Discount codes, customer tags, and spend thresholds that remove fees.
When code FEEFREE or tag wholesale, waive the fee.
Subscription setup fee
A one-time charge when a subscription starts.
When the cart has a subscription + first order, add the setup fee.
Wholesale service charge
A percentage of your cost per item, for wholesale customers only.
When the customer is tagged wholesale, add 5% of cost.
