Wholesale service charge based on cost
Last updated: September 23, 2026
To charge wholesale customers a service or handling charge that follows what the goods cost you, use a Percentage by cost cart fee, for example 5% of the cart's total Cost per item, with the condition Customer tag is one of wholesale. Ten units that cost you 8.00 each add 4.00; retail customers pay nothing.
The rule in FlexiFees
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Fee title | Wholesale service charge |
| Scope | Cart fee |
| Fee type | Percentage by cost |
| Amount | 5% (example) |
| Fee limits (optional) | min or max if needed |
| SKU | WHOLESALE |
| Condition | Customer tag is one of wholesale |
Why cost instead of price?
Wholesale prices are often already discounted, so a percentage of the price shrinks with every discount. A percentage of Cost per item stays tied to the value of the goods you ship. If you prefer the selling price, use a Percentage fee with the same condition.
Variants
- Only small wholesale orders: add Cart subtotal is less than or equal to 500.
- A floor: a cart formula
max(10, 0.05 * subtotal_cost), or a minimum under Fee limits. - The opposite, waiving retail fees for wholesale: see waive fees for VIP and wholesale customers.
Good to know
- Customer tags exist only for logged-in customers; guests never match a positive tag rule.
- Tag changes can take up to about 3 minutes (cache) plus a cart change to take effect.
- Products without Cost per item count as 0.
